Application & Data

Applications age, data sprawls, and the gap gets filled with manual work. Modernisation, custom builds, managed databases, and analytics — so your software works as hard as your people.

Application modernisation, custom development, database management and analytics — designed, built, operated and evolved as a continuous service rather than a project with an end date.

What's included

What a Application & Data engagement covers

Application modernisation

Replatforming and refactoring work on systems that hold the business back, sequenced so functionality keeps running while the architecture changes.

Custom development

Software built for how your operation actually works, rather than configured around what a packaged product allows.

Managed databases

Provisioning, tuning, backup verification, patching and recovery testing for relational and non-relational stores, including the version upgrades everyone defers.

Analytics and reporting

Pipelines, models and dashboards that answer operational questions, built on governed data rather than on a spreadsheet exported last quarter.

Integration and interfaces

Connecting ERP, CRM, logistics and finance systems so data moves between them without nightly manual reconciliation.

How we deliver

The operating model behind the technology

Read the code before the plan

We assess the existing system, its dependencies and its documentation debt, because modernisation scoped from an architecture diagram alone tends to surprise everyone.

Strangler over rewrite

Capability is migrated incrementally behind stable interfaces, which keeps the system usable throughout and avoids a big-bang release that risks everything at once.

Tests as the safety net

Automated tests around existing behaviour are written before refactoring starts, so a change that breaks something is caught in a pipeline rather than by a customer.

Operate what we build

Applications and databases are run by the same team that built them, which closes the loop between design decisions and the 3am consequences of them.

Questions buyers actually ask

Should we rewrite our core system or modernise it?

Usually modernise. Rewrites overrun because the original system encodes years of business rules that nobody wrote down. We extract and reimplement capability in stages, which is slower to start and far less likely to fail.

Can you maintain code another vendor wrote?

Yes. We start with an assessment of quality, test coverage and dependency risk, then tell you plainly what is safe to change and what needs stabilising first.

How do you handle database migrations?

With rehearsed cutovers and verified restores. Schema changes are tested against production-shaped data, and the rollback path is agreed before the migration window opens.

Do we get the source code?

Yes. Source, infrastructure definitions and pipeline configuration live in your repositories from the start, which also means another team could pick the work up if our engagement ended.

How do analytics projects avoid becoming shelfware?

By starting from a decision someone has to make. If nobody owns the question the dashboard answers, we say so rather than building it and moving on.

How is this work priced?

Quote-only. Discovery and architecture are priced as the first stage, with build and the ongoing managed service quoted separately, so the commercial decision can be taken in steps.

How is our data protected during a migration?

Migrations run with a rehearsed cutover and a rollback path. Replication is verified against row counts and checksums before the switch, and the source stays intact until the target has held under production load.

What happens after go-live?

The build hands over into a managed service covering patching, monitoring, backup verification and an agreed response model, so the application does not become unowned in the week after launch.
